James R. Baker, P.E.

Jim Baker has nearly 20 years of experience in the planning, design, and construction management of structural engineering projects.  Jim holds a Bachelor of Science and Civil Engineering degree from Villanova University and is a licensed Professional Engineer in the states of Arkansas, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, District of Columbia, Florida, Georgia, Maryland, Missouri, New York, North Carolina, Virginia, and West Virginia.

Jim’s areas of significant experience and expertise include structural design of educational, multi-family residential, retail, healthcare, institutional, hospitality, industrial, and office building projects.  Jim is proficient in designing and specifying various materials including structural steel, reinforced concrete, post-tensioned concrete, wood frame, and light gauge framing.  He has worked with many different agencies and clients consisting of architects, developers, contractors, agents, and owners throughout his career.  Jim has designed facilities requiring high seismic and wind lateral loading criteria along with being adept in FEMA flood plain standards.

Jim lives in Lewes, Delaware with his wife, Dr. Eileen Baker, and their two children. He has held volunteer positions in the community personally and professionally, including Lewes Little League president, Cub Scout Leader, baseball, softball, & soccer coach, Odyssey of the Mind coach, Lewes / Rehoboth Sunrise board of directors, and American Institute of Architects (AIA) Chesapeake Bay board of directors.  When not at work, you’ll most likely find Jim involved with a family activity or on a boat seeking the latest catch of the day.
